The City Council is the policy making body and only exercises their authority when acting in concert with other Council Members at publicly noticed meetings. The Mayor and Council Members enact appropriate legislation and perform any and all other acts which may be necessary and proper to carry out these powers or any other provisions of the City of Tolleson City Codes and Arizona Revised Statues.
Council Meetings are held:
Every second and fourth Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall (9555 W. Van Buren St. Tolleson, AZ 85353)
Work sessions are held as needed prior to the Council meetings
All public notices of meetings held by the Tolleson City Council are posted at the outdoor bulletin board of Tolleson City Hall and online. Online notices can be found on the City Clerk's page. Additional public notices will be given as it is reasonable and as needed.
Principal Responsibilities of the Council are to:
Provide a forum for the discussion of community issues
The responsibilities of the City Council are legislative in nature and are accomplished primarily through ordinances, resolutions, and motions that define community policies and standards to guide program development and implementation.
Council Members have the responsibility of representing our citizens, listening to both the requests and grievances of our citizens and responding to their needs within the realm of local decision making powers.
