John Paul Lopez was promoted to Assistant City Manager in 2006. John Paul works in conjunction with City Manager Reyes Medrano Jr. ensuring the delivery of municipal services to the community, economic development initiatives, budget creation, administration, strategic planning for the city, fiscal accountability, and employee relations. As a Tolleson native, John Paul has seen the growth of the city from a small farming community to a strong commercial and industrial base that allows for the delivery of many amenities and cultural activities to Tolleson’s citizens.
John Paul served as the Director of Community Services for the City of Tolleson. In this position, he was charged with overseeing the development and implementation of services that compliment the residents’ needs, while promoting a strong sense of community. John Paul oversaw the Community Action Program, the Public Library, Senior Center, Youth Development, and management of all Special Events for the City.
In July 2002, John Paul accepted the Youth Program Coordinator position for the City. In this role he developed the City of Tolleson’s Teen Council, the Leadership Coalition, and the Youth Leadership Conference.
Previously John Paul taught for the Tolleson Elementary School District from 2000 to 2002. From 1995 to 2001 John Paul served as the Youth Ministry Director for Blessed Sacrament Church. He also served as an employee and community advocate for St. Joseph’s Care Center. While residing in Chicago John Paul was the Assistant Manager at Office Depot from 1993 to 1995.
John Paul is a member of the National League of Cities, the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, the Arizona City Managers Association, the Tolleson Green Foundation, and the West Valley Recreation Committee. He also serves as a committee member for the Silent Auction Dinner fundraising event at St. Gregory’s Church.
John Paul earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics from Arizona State University.
John Paul and his wife, Rachel, have been married for 15 years and are the proud parents of four children. |
