Please Bag & Tie
The City of Tolleson code and the Maricopa County Health Department requires that all refuse and green waste prepared for collection be bagged and securely tied to exclude flies and other pests.  This includes grass clippings and yard waste.  Bagging and tying keeps your container clean and reduces odors.

Items that cannot be placed in the container include:
  • Large appliances, furniture, water heaters/softeners
  • Hot ashes
  • Construction debris or roof shingles
  • Large tree limbs
  • Dirt, rocks and concrete and remodeling materials
  • Please do not place refuse on the container or on the ground around the container.
  • Please place your container in the street with the wheels against the curb and return to your property within 24 hrs after collection.
  • The container must be at least 10 feet from any obstructions such as a fence, streetlight, mailbox or parked vehicles.

Containers
The Finance Office will issue a work order to have a container delivered to the resident when services are turned on in the resident's name.

  • Residents are responsible for cleaning their own container.
  • The container will stay with the house if the resident moves.
  • If the container is stolen or vandalized, please contact the Field Operations Department at 623-936-7141.
  • Call the Field Operations Department for container replacement or repair at 623-936-7141.

Set your container out for collection by 5:00 am on your collection day to assure same day service. To avoid missing your collection service, containers may be placed out on the previous evening.  Containers set out after 5:00 am may not be serviced and must be removed from view until the next regularly scheduled collection date.

Please place your container in the street in front of your house. The wheels should be at the edge of the sidewalk or pavement, with the opening facing the street.  Sidewalks must always be kept clear for pedestrian and wheelchair access.
Please place your container in the street with the wheels against the curb. Where there is no curb, the container should be placed at the edge of the street.

Please make sure that the container is within one foot of the curb and at least ten feet from any obstructions, such as a fence, streetlight or mailbox or other containers.  Please do not park within ten feet of containers to allow room for the garbage trucks. Containers that are blocked by vehicles will not be serviced until the next assigned collection day.

Bulk Trash

The city provides bulk trash collection service three times a year for large, bulky (not for liquid food or paper products) items that are not allowed or will not fit into the 90 or 300-gallon containers. This is the time to dispose of tree limbs and brush, as well as furniture and appliances (except refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners that have or have had Freon in them).  The equipment that is used might leave behind crushed leaves and twigs; it is the responsibility of the resident to clean up anything left behind
